Pepe is a Pain in the Neck

So I decided, against everyone's advise, to take Pepe for a spin last night. Went with my training buddy Missy, 15 hilly miles. First ride in over two weeks. One word to describe that ride, PAIN! So, after two weeks of physical therapy making me feel better, I went and screwed it up with one little bike ride. But, the good news is a know the source of the pain. Now I need to figure out how to make it not happen. Not training, and not tri-ing are NOT options. I will be taking myself and Pepe in to a bike shop for a proper fitting. Whatever time and money it may take (two things I am short of) I will figure out a way to make Pepe and I fit together. I need to do it asap, cause I want to do the Trek ride in six weeks. And not the 10 miles. I'm going for the 25!

Sitting Down on the job

Bubba is almost 6, and is starting first grade in just a few short weeks. I'm having issues with both of those milestones, because it means my baby is growing up. But, first grade is all day, so I only have to pay my sitter's before and after school price, which means I'm saving lots of money, that's a good thing. Almost 6 means he's been potty trained for almost 3 years. The only issue is, he still sits when he pees. I know it may not seem like a big deal to some, but lately, it's becoming more of an issue. My first thought is, big deal. I sit, why can't he. Then I think about how mean kids can be. Will he get picked on when they find out he doesn't pee standing up? Call him a girl? Bubba is a very sensitive little boy. He can't handle being teased. And what happens when he is out with just his dad? During Iron Girl, my brother took him to the bathroom and it became a bit of a problem. Not knowing that he's a sitter, Matt brought hi

Iron Girl Squared

Last year I competed in my first ever triathlon. The Aflac Iron Girl in Syracuse, and became a triathlete and an Iron Girl all on the same day. This year, I became an Iron Girl Squared. I took the day off from work on Friday so I could go to the expo and drop my bike off. My awesome racing buddy Missy picked me and Pepe up and we headed off to the expo. When we got there the line to pick up the packets was quite long, so we headed to the course talk instead. Probably could have avoided the course talk since it was basically the same course as last year, and we had ridden the bike several times already this year. But it felt good to raise our hands when they asked if there was anyone in the room who did the race last year. And I could totally relate to how nervous the first timers were. After the course talk we headed over to packet pickup, where there was no line at all anymore. Since I'm old and Missy isn't yet, we were in different waves this year. (but she'll b

I'm Baaack

I have been writing posts in my head for weeks now, but just can't get them to come out on the keyboard. Life is interesting still. No changes on the marriage front. Just waiting for one of us to get out. My main reason for not leaving is money. And after house/dog sitting for over a week at my parents, I have come to the conclusion I can't live there. The drive is too far, by the time I pick up the boys after work and get out there it's after 6. With homework, and dinner, that just won't work. I have found a potential apartment, so now I just need a part time job to be able to swing it. We did go on a kayaking trip as a family, and had fun. But I was informed up front that it in no way meant that things were ok. There were 15 of us all together going to celebrate the in-law's 50th anniversary. Good times. This past weekend was the 2nd annual Aflac Iron Girl triathlon here. It was amazing. I will do an official race report tomorrow. I was going to d
