I have been posting at least one thing each day on Facebook and Twitter that I am thankful for the entire month. It hasn't been easy some days, because quite frankly, I'm not always feeling especially thankful for the way my life has turned out. But today, I am going to be just that. Especially Thankful.
I am thankful that I am in a warm home, with both of my boys here almost every night. He could have made me leave. But, he's paying the mortgage, and the bulk of the other bills, and staying at his parents house instead.
I am thankful that my "little" brother survived Iraq. He came home not quite the same person he left, but he is physically ok.
I am thankful to have two very healthy, smart, funny, loving boys. They are the light of my life, and my reason for being. I can't, and won't, imagine life without them.
I am thankful for my job. It may not be what I thought I would be doing when I "grew up", but it is a pretty good job. I have some wonderful coworkers, and the company does it's best to take care of the employees.
I am thankful for my "big" sister. Thankful that she got out of a physically and emotionally abusive marriage, and that she has found a wonderful man, who truly loves her, and will do anything to give her the life she so deserves. Thankful that she won the battle and the war, and has all five of her kids living under her roof.
I am thankful for my parents. They have bailed me out more times than I care to admit. If it weren't for them, I would be lost. No matter how I screw up, they never say I told you so. They never lecture, they just say, what can we do to help?
I am thankful for my newly found love of running, and triathlon. I can not believe I can call myself an athlete. But I am so glad that I can. I have made some wonderful friends through the sport, and have become a stronger person, and not just physically, because of it as well.
I am thankful I live in a country where we can freely express our thoughts, and where we can sit down to give thanks with our families.
I am thankful for my friends. The ones who have known me since middle school, have watched me make really stupid choices, and still love me. The friends who have been there through all the ups and downs of life. The ones who can finish the stories I tell. The friends I can call crying when I just can't hold it together.
I am thankful to be alive.
Happy Thanksgiving!
